El Dorado County Jail Roster
The official current-custody list is the El Dorado Sheriff's Office Citizen RIMS Incarcerated People roster. The Sheriff's main page links to it as Current Inmates, and the public roster is operated through Citizen RIMS by Sun Ridge Systems. It is free to view, and no public login was observed in the research. The roster loads current inmate rows, allows name and date filtering, and opens booking detail.
El Dorado County inmate records on Citizen RIMS are narrower than many jail pages suggest. The inspected public configuration had inmate photos disabled and also hid date of birth, age, sex, race, height, weight, housing location, and court dates. The roster can still show a booking number, name, booking date, arresting agency, arrest location, bail, status, and charge details.
The official roster screenshot comes from the Citizen RIMS current-inmates page, where the public can review current booking rows before expanding a record.
The roster image is useful because it shows the county's live lookup context: current bookings, not a statewide prison index or a commercial search page.
Use El Dorado County Roster
A good El Dorado County jail roster search starts with the least specific facts that still identify the person. Name spelling can vary, new bookings can lag, and the first screen may not show every current booking at once. If a person was arrested by CHP, Placerville Police, South Lake Tahoe Police, a tribal agency, or another local agency, the Sheriff's Custody Division may still be the booking agency.
- Open the Sheriff's page and choose Current Inmates, or go directly to the Citizen RIMS incarcerated-people roster.
- Enter a first name, last name, or both. If the record is not found, search with fewer name fields and check spelling variants.
- Open the expanded options when date filtering is useful. Start Date and End Date can narrow the visible booking set.
- Review the table row for booking number, name, booking date, arresting agency, arrest location, bail, and status.
- Click the matching row, or use Enter or Space from the keyboard, to expand booking detail and charge lines.
- If no record appears, try the phone, in-person, records request, CDCR, BOP, ICE, or VINELink channels listed below.
Booking charges are not convictions. Court charges may change after prosecutor or judge review. A $0 bail entry is not a release order by itself, because another hold, warrant, remand, probation status, or detainer can still keep a person in custody.
El Dorado County Search Fields
The roster does not use a traditional submit button in the inspected interface. Name and date changes reload the data, while row expansion opens more detail. Sorting is available through the table, and the visible count area reports when records are found or when no records are available. El Dorado Inmate Profile Fields
An El Dorado County inmate record should be read as a booking profile, not a full criminal-history report. The public roster may show the arresting agency as CHP, SSMIPD, or another code, while the jail booking itself is held by the Sheriff's custody system. Use the booking number when calling the jail or asking Records staff for a report, and place it in the case or incident field, or in additional details, if the public-records form has no booking-number line.

No official current sheriff app-store roster was verified. Placerville Police has a Google Play app, and My South Lake Tahoe is a civic reporting app, but neither was documented as the El Dorado County inmate roster.
County State Federal Custody
El Dorado County inmate records split sharply by legal custody. A person arrested locally may begin in the Sheriff's jail system. If convicted and sentenced to state prison, that same person may later leave the county roster and appear in CDCR's CIRIS. Federal and immigration cases use different tools once BOP, U.S. Marshals, or ICE custody controls the person.

El Dorado Jail Contacts
The Sheriff's Custody Division operates two county jail facilities. Placerville is the larger facility and serves as the primary jail page for the site. South Lake Tahoe serves the Tahoe basin. The public roster does not show housing location in the inspected fields, so callers should confirm the facility before legal mail, medical mail, in-person visits, or travel.

El Dorado Booking Records
Booking begins after an arrest, warrant detention, or transfer into county custody. Jail staff verify identity, create the booking record, inventory property, and complete safety and classification steps. Classification means the jail's assessment of housing and security needs. The public roster does not show the housing unit.
The local record trail can involve several agencies. An arresting agency report may come from CHP, EDSO, Placerville Police, South Lake Tahoe Police, or another agency. The jail booking record is maintained by the Sheriff's custody system. Court filings then move through El Dorado Superior Court after charges are filed.
El Dorado Records Requests
The Sheriff's Records Unit page says it maintains reports initiated by the Sheriff's Office, county booking records, warrants, and restraining orders issued by El Dorado County courts. Report copies are released under legal limits, and some releases are discretionary or restricted.
The Records Unit screenshot is from the Sheriff records page, which is the local fallback when the roster does not provide enough information.
The records page matters for released people, report copies, booking records beyond the visible roster, and requests that need ID review.
Report copies cost $0.25 per page, and the Records page says the office will respond within 10 working days. The form lists RecordsPV@eldoradosheriff.gov, fax (530) 626-8163, phone (530) 621-5703, and 200 Industrial Drive, Placerville, CA 95667. Local CORI reports are separate subject-of-record requests.
El Dorado Jail Visits
Visiting is first come, first served. The jail limits most visitors and inmates to three 30-minute visits per week, with one visit per day unless jail administration approves an exception. Proper identification is required. Call before evening visiting because the Sheriff's page says evening visits should be confirmed in case they are cancelled.

No personal property is allowed in the visiting area, including cell phones, cameras, electronics, handbags, writing supplies, books, food, or drinks. Dress rules bar exposed undergarments, sheer fabric, gang attire, hats, short skirts or shorts, and bare backs, chests, or abdomens. Legal holidays are closed, and normal hours can change.
Contact El Dorado Inmates
El Dorado County uses NCIC for inmate phone service and remote video visitation. Remote video visits are scheduled through NCIC video visitation, generally run seven days a week from 8:00 AM to 11:00 PM with blocked times for medical and dietary needs, and were listed at $0.20 per minute in the research. Video visits are recorded and monitored.
Routine personal mail goes to the Texas scanning address, not the physical jail. Use the inmate name, booking number, El Dorado County, County Jail, PO Box 591, Longview, Texas 75606, and include a return address. Legal and medical mail must go to the actual facility where the inmate is housed. CorrectPay/VendEngine handles electronic messaging with the listed message fees.
Funds and Release Checks
The visiting page says money in cash or cashier's check may be brought to the facility at any time and placed on an inmate account, or sent by postal service. That statement is for inmate account funds, not proof that the same method posts bail. Before sending money, scheduling a visit, or traveling to a jail, confirm custody status and facility placement. A person can be released, transferred, sent to court, moved to CDCR, held under a federal or immigration process, or hidden from the public roster because the record is restricted.
